Vaccinations

Anyone who`s ever had a dog knows the enormous enjoyment they can bring. But, of course along with pleasure, comes a certain responsibility particularly where your dog`s health is concerned. So when your puppy arrives the first and the most important thing to do is to register it with a veterinarian, and find out about vaccination. Vaccination is vital. Both puppies and adult dogs have an instable curiosity, and as they investigate the world around them, they are almost certain to come into contact with infection of one kind or another. Prophylactic vaccination will provide the dog protection against some rather dangerous diseases such as rabies, distemper, hepatitis, leptospirosis, and many others. If in the past some people had pondered over the fact whether or not to vaccinate the pets, today probably there is not a single owner, who would have doubted that the vaccination is very important. We mustn`t put our beloved pet under the risk.

Regardless of the breed, each dog must be vaccinated, especially Rhodesian Ridgebacks. Usually, the first vaccination in the life of a puppy is made before moving to a new family, and it must be made not later than one week before it lives for a new house. 8 weeks after birth, all pups are vaccinated against parvoviruses, and then after 4 weeks vaccination must be repeated at the new place. Then at the age of 7-8 weeks the puppies are vaccinated against canine plague and hepatitis, which also must be repeated after 4-5 weeks.

Do not forget that this is only the first vaccination. And every owner should take care of the additional annual vaccination of their pet. It`s also worth to draw your attention on the fact that, each time for 7-10 days before you let your dog to be vaccinated, you need de-worming intervention, using the special medicine that are sold in pet shops or veterinary pharmacies.
