It's not a secret that proper nutrition is the guarantee of good health. Newborn RR puppies receive all the necessary valuable substances from the mother's milk, but when they grow up and begin their new life in the new home, the care of receiving the proper balanced food, will rest on the shoulders of its caring owner.

Today, every dog owner can make a choice between ready-made foods for dogs or you may work out the diet for the pet by yourself. Of course, on the one hand, what could be better for dogs than meat, but meat only is first of all, too costly, especially considering that the Rhodesian Ridgeback isn`t a small dog and eats a lot, and secondly, just meat contains not enough extra nutrients that growing puppies and dogs need to fuel their bodies. Moreover they should get them in certain proportions, to observe it will not be an easy task, too.

That is why today more and more owners give their preference to dry food or canned food, the main advantage of which is not only that they must not be cooked (though for many people this fact is not less important), but that their components are selected in accordance with the age and size of the dog so that it would not require any additional nutrients and vitamins - all this is already available in dog food.

It is also important to mention that Ridgebacks have very picky eating habits and will eat anything you give them. Puppies do not eat the same food as adult dogs. Buy specially made puppy food, which has a smaller kibble that is easier for small puppy mouths to chew. So when you want your dog to live a long and healthy life, you should be very attentive to the puppy and adult dog food- it must not only be tasty, but also balanced. And which way to achieve this goal you like most of all, it's up to you.
